Thanks to Boston Children's Hospital and the generosity of sponsors and volunteers, these lives changed in a heartbeat.

AUSTIN

When he was a baby, he needed a new heart. While he waited, doctors at Boston Children’s Hospital fitted him with a portable heart pump. Our cardiologists helped develop the lifesaving device, which allows kids to stay active while waiting for a transplant. Austin was able to meet critical milestones, like learning to crawl, before receiving his new heart. Today, he’s thriving.

Ella.png

ELLA
Born 2 months early, she had an enlarged heart caused by a heart defect. After she was given less than 24 hours to live, she was transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital for complex open-heart surgery. Today, nearly three years later, Ella is no longer in heart failure. She’s a spirited preschooler who loves princess dresses, dance class and ice skating.

WALKER
He was born with congenital heart disease. After a treatment at another hospital, Walker came to Boston Children’s Hospital for advanced care and answers. Here, he had a complex heart surgery. Today, he’s 7 and still in treatment. He loves arts and crafts, listening to music, and spending time with his two younger siblings.
